Hallowe'en!

So today is Hallowe'en!

I had hoped to write a spooky story for the occasion, but I didn't have either the time or the inspiration unfortunately.
But anyway, what are you doing today? I don't really celebrate Hallowe'en, apart from carving pumpkins (or oranges) and decorating my blog.
I think I'll give you a brief history of Hallowe'en:

The word Hallowe'en derived from All Hallows' Eve - the evening before All Hallows' Day, also known as Hallowtide or All Saints' Day. Hallowe'en was supposed to be the day when evil spirits were most active, before All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, when the good Saints and Souls were remembered. Hallowe'en turned into a slightly silly festival in modern times, when children would dress up as ghosts and witches and such and go from door to door asking for a sweet.

That's a photo I took of carved orange. :3

  1. I read In the October edition of Nat Geo Kids a few years ago that trick-or-treating began in London when people would give cakes to their neighbors ^.^
